#414 SYorgy

those in the know would be keenly aware on my involvement in SYOG.. as an a volunteer and much less as an althetic, SYOG for me meant hours and hours spent at work, providing logistics support to the hundreds of men and thousands of men hours provided by my company..

logistics support, or any support work for that matter, is predictably routine and not something that people really enjoy doing, you really need to have that "service heart" to do so with a smile, much less for me who prefers operational work and being "on the ground"..

with the constant changes in requirements flying my way and additional spanners thrown into the pool, things just seem to never end and from as early as 5 Aug, it was an onslaught of items, items and items..

when the action kicks in, there are more questions asked, most opinions raised and more comments from all sorts of people, many uncalled for.. just an example of the daily musings, rice is provided for breakfast as the management intent was for the guys to have a full meals before being deployed out (and a busy day, time for lunch would be a luxury) and muslim officers who are fasting during the period tend to skip lunch completely (i found out otherwise a few days in the fasting period).. so the comments were that rice was too heavy and if we could change to noodles or something lighter.. towards the final 2 weeks fo the assignment, we then managed to close the order for breakfast completely and swopped to MacDonald's Breakfast

Looking back, this logistics support work would not have been successful without the help of a good gang of "brothers".. these guys that work under my wing have performed to the best of their abilities to ensure that gaps are plugged and new requirements fulfilled..

by now, things are moving back to "normal" while it always feels that rest is never enough..

on the home front, wifey has also gone through her own version of SYOG.. looking after kiddo while dad dad was away for work as early as 4am and leaving work at around 2am for most days.. to my wife, thank you, to my kid, be good..

i'll write more when i write more then..

#413 Free stuff

Been getting calls from pinoy-accented people offering me a free spa treatment at Body Contours, i hate to admit, but it's either i have serious hearing and concentration problem or i missed the latest codec update to decipher their accent.. advise to companies out there, if you want to engage in direct marketing, finding people who's english is generally audible over the phone goes a long way to ensuring that your product is rightly represented..

as so it goes, they are insistent on "fixing" an appointment for me though friends around me now generally understands that i take an awful long time to confirm if i can/cannot go to something..

so after missing the first appointment, i got a second call mentioning that i am entitled to the VIP treatment at no cost, don't bring your credit card they say! quite strange that they already determined that pressure selling is a cause for people not wanting to risk their mental health and credit cards through such sales gimmick which offers FREE VIP TREATMENT..

oh well, and 3rd call came when i missed the 2nd appointment too and i guess i made my point that i'm highly unlikely to get there in future and i'll just stick to whinning and exploring decent massage places instead of actually doing something about my aching body

Out.

#412 Down

Readership has been down, i mean really down.. has it got anything to do with my lack of content? i'm sure its does!

Haa.. hang on
