#407: Productivity

So, that's the new buzz word by the PAP after all the budget "debate".. its no debate when the winner is already decided before the mouth even open, so cheerios to that yah.. efficiency, singapore style..

Productivity, how do you define this then? A roti prata man working in the Istana can produce 10 kosong and 10 egg pratas a day. In order to increase productivity, the roti prata man can directly work longer to make more prata, but that's not productivity.. productivity means that within the small working hours, the prata man make more pratas.. how to? He needs to work faster or harder, the stove fire needs to be stronger, there are many factors.. so how exactly do you upgrade a prata man's skills to make him make better prata faster?

Fast forward to our current situation, productivity also means having less people work on the job so that the existing manpower gets free up to do more stuff.. but but.. to run a country, we need top level officials, but but.. to have a Minister Mentor, TWO Senior Ministers, a Prime Minister and TWO Deputy Prime Ministers.. is that being productive?
