The Last Legion

Story about how this young kid who was made Caesar while his dad(ex-Caesar) was still alive.. Caesar got overthrown by barbarians and basically had to run for his little life.. aided, of course, by a few brave men and a busty indian woman.. hehee

Basically the people behind the film is trying to tell a story before the Excalibur.. yes, that one involving king Arthur.. but did they do it well?

Not for me

Kind of not explained by a kid was made Caesar by the father who was alive and well.. Rome inflitrated by barbarians(the Guls)? You must be kidding.. damn me if this is historic, but Rome inflitrated? Then perhaps Mars, the god of War, let it happen to punish the incompetent
Back to the movie, plenty of fight scenes

Ok acting, but voice for the leader for the male lead(the commander, not the boy).. he screwed up big time when he was trying to do "the motivation speech before a big battle thing" with his sissy voice.. of all great battles and commanders, this guy is not even there, go back to being a foot soldier lar..

the battle scenes are really poorly done.. low budget maybe.. people expect more when you speak about Rome and its legions..

*Another stupid story were the "main force" appears only after the brave first group gets whacked, pretty much ask the questions "why this stupid roman legions cannot make up their minds and help the first group defend the fort in the first place?"

There are perhaps few who would enjoy being grown up, but the process of growing up is one not to be missed.. been having discussion with a friend when he mentioned that its funny how our topics are revolving around such issues now..

buying flats, financial planning for the future, and talking basically about making things happen and getting the things in life in place.. a family..

i still have many friends who are older who just might not be ready for this.. this family building thing.. yes, no doubt its never easy.. some cannot find the right one to spend their life with, some have found theirs but see no need to go beyond their current status, others are certain that they will never marry

everyone has their own choice to make, their own paths to take

the difference is you have to make a choice to work to make things happen or go with the flow and see what happens, and wait.. and wait.. you might just end up waiting for a chance, or someone that will never come by again

to those who are in turmoil over choices and decisions.. may the light shine upon you.. for those who are seeking that true one, may you find the best fit to your life, for those already basking in the sunshine with your loved one, ask yourself when you would be ready to commit

Government builds roads, roads get crowded, government make people pay more to use road, traffics gets smoother, traffics get bad again due to more cars, most people(6million in future), tax people more to use road, traffic gets better(hopefully)

Government builds flats, people move in, are happy, become unhappy because there is no lifts on every floor when they become older, goverment builds lift, people happy again, government ask people to co-pay, people becomes less happy

I take pride in my government, but had our roads been wider, had our roads been higher with more layers and thus increase lane(sidetrack: 1 road, 4lanes vs 2 roads, 3lanes normal, 3lanes flyover) in the first place, would the roads be crowded?

Had lifts that stops on every floor been built in the beginning, the current constructions could be avoided..

Market Segmentation:Dividing or cutting your market into group with same characteristics and behaviour..
So now only those can afford will use the expressway? Can't afford? Take small road lor..

Want lifts? Pay for it.. its already cheaper than building yourself (duh)If the early HDB plan was that people will grow old and need lifts for every level, would the cost then be lower or higher?

So what was it like 10years ago? 10 is a usual measure of time, 10 year cycles so as to speak.. 10 years ago, the year was 1997.. i was still a teen in secondary two, dreaming about growing up and looking at school girls in uniform.. haha..

still remember that things were quite bad then, it was the economic crisis period and i did know a little what that meant despite my young age. Now to speak about the broader things..
Sept 11 was just another in 1997 and security was harder an issue.. MRT was considered a very fast mode of transport and no one really minded if the train was "late" because no one really knew when they had to come..

Closer to home, computers was a luxury and internet, even more so.. the favourite chatting program then was mIRC, no one really knew about MSN, even ICQ was a relative novelty. Floppy disk was used to store projects that school designed, i still remember taking a windows 3.1 lesson in school when i was in sec 1. Then came win95, win98, win2k, win XP and now in 2007, win vista

Handphones, something that most people cannot do without, was even harder to get then.. if your parent(s) had any, it would be a black heavy piece with plastic buttons and a pager-like display screen and the too too too goes everything you dial a number

So what does the future hold? What would the world and Singapore be like come 2017? Ten years of change, ten years of improvement

Of Something's Missing

After spending close to a month in my new job.. i finally realise what i'm missing.. i miss guys.

Yes yes, it's a gay comment, but i'm not missing them in any lewd way..

it took a fire warden briefing for me to discover what i'm missing: guys! The cock that guys talk are just so different from the cock that the ladies will be talking, maybe it has something to do with the organs.. oOps... sure, people can crap, but nothing beats a good laugh from guys getting together and start making silly comments and laughing our arse off, it takes that special feel to bounce nonsense off one another and listening to a group of 3 guys crapping away at the fire warden handbook was a joy, its almost like we were made to laugh and have fun..

current update: my department has 9 staff, 7 of which are ladies.. the 2 gentlemen are my Director(he's angmoh) and myself.. so there's pretty much very little guys-crap to go around..
i'hv been listening and taking part in chatters, but they are nowhere close to the standards of talk cock i used to maintain.. haha..

some issues can be pretty off topic as they talk about kids, primary schools, what university who went to, travel and more travel.. guess i fitted in quite all right, but still there's something missing and now i know what that is..

Movie Review - 881

With the seventh lunar month beginning today, there couldn't be a better time for the show to hit the screens..while previous years have seen horror movies dominate the ghost month, this heartwarming getai movie is one to watch!

Getai translates to "Song stage", a performance that is put up during the Lunar Seventh Month or Hungry Ghost Festival for the unseens.. loud music and elaborate costumes are trademarks of this dying trade in our age of modernisation..

The movie shows us the lives of a pair of Getai singers wannabe and their journey through the ups-and-downs of life.. the powerful vocals of hokkien songs will get you humming along and the catchy tune is so easy to pick up..

Don't expect a social-drama and its hardly so.. the movie centers along some nonsense and endless humour from the crew..

Don't worry if you don't understand hokkien, but some basic knowledge will definitely help you laugh harder at the jokes

i'm sure this movie is going to start a wave of hokkien melodies among the youth and just wait before you hear ringtones around you blasting hokkien songs on the mrt and buses! Haha..

The signs are good, Arsenal has had a good pre-season with 2 mickey mouse prizes in the bag, the Emirates Cup and the Asterdam Tournament, quality opposition provided the challenge instead of the likes of china clubs or even the united states teams cannot be too much of a challange..

Arsenal have played against the likes of Lazio, Inter Milan, Ajax, PSG and did well, i must say confidence is strong is this arsenal team and we are all waiting for that first game against Fulham in the Premiership to truly show that we are in for the top prize this term..

van Persie is on fire and i believe Eduardo Da Silva will find his feet soon enough.. don't expect a player like henry, but he should be more winning to shot to score instead of those nicky passes that are so often seen last season.. adebayor is out for the opener, and in my opinion, he needs more training on his finishing and shot power before he can really lead this gunner line..
